چکیده

This study investigated various uncertainties in colour matching, including matching stimulus and measuring instruments (such as random fluctuation, drift over time, spatial uniformity, temperature), calibration (photometric, wavelength and additivity) and observer (intraand inter agreements). From the research results, it was found that the observer error was the major source of errors in colour matching, which was about 10 times of instrumental uncertainties. While among the instrumental uncertainties, the major source of error was spatial non-uniformity of beams and filters. The occurrence of uncertainties could influence the derivation of colour matching functions. Another task for the project was to reduce uncertainties in colour matching as much as possible. The uncertainties of instruments could be reduced to a minimum by adjusting the equipment and choosing better methods of measurement. It was found the uncertainty of observers could be further reduced by choosing a better way of arranging experiments.

Measuring the Similarity of Trajectories Using Fuzzy Theory

In recent years, with the advancement of positioning systems, access to a large amount of movement data is provided. Among the methods of discovering knowledge from this type of data is to measure the similarity of trajectories resulting from the movement of objects. Similarity measurement has also been used in other data mining methods such as classification and clustering and is currently, an...

An Algorithm for Color Matching of Textiles With Elimination of Limitation on Primaries

The proposed algorithm suggests a new method for determination of K/S value of primaries based on linear least Squares Technique. By applying the matrix pseudoinverse, a modification is introduced to eliminate the limitation on the numbers of applied dyes in one – constant Kubelka-Munk theory. The selection of dyes for tristimulus matching are also done on the basis of the initial spectrophotom...

Achieving the predictable composite resin restoration: the nature of colour

64 INTERNATIONAL DENTISTRY SA VOL. 12, NO. 2 Although colour as an entity should be regarded as being only one of the many building blocks necessary in the achievement of an aesthetic restorative result, a discordant colour scheme can probably be more devastating to the overall effect than many of the other factors present. It is for this reason that so much time, research and expense has gone ...

A Theory of Unique Hues and Colour Categories in the Human Colour Vision

A novel approach to assessing colour appearance is described. It is based on a new technique—partial hue-matching—which allows for measuring colour in terms of component hues objectively, without resorting to verbal definitions. The new method is believed to have a potential to be as exact as colorimetric techniques. In contrast to classical colour matching, which implies visual equivalence of ...
